Growing up in a military family, Attorney Marchella McGinnis participated in year-round veteran events from a very young age. One of her favorite memories growing up was her family’s annual “Operation Pumpkin Roll” which began every year after Veteran’s Day.
Her family would bake, wrap, press and seal dozens of delicious pumpkin rolls to sell at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars center, Senior Center, and Fraternal Order of Eagles center.
The proceeds they made from selling the pumpkin rolls went towards buying socks to make "diddy bags" for veterans at local nursing homes.
When I was growing up, I lived on a farm in upstate New York. It was a great place to learn the value of hard work. My father and grandfather, as well as my mother and grandmother, never took days off. They were always thinking about the next goal or the next project.
