What happens next
You don’t need paperwork or an office visit to get started.
- Who
- Someone from my office calls the number you give us.
- When
- We call during office hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM Eastern.
- Cost
- The review is free, with no obligation to hire us. If you do, our fee comes out of what we recover. If there is no recovery, you owe us no attorney's fee and no case costs.
If your case is one we don't handle, we may refer it to another lawyer or law firm, and we'll tell you before we do.
“If you need a lawyer who will explain to you exactly what you need to know, when you need to know it, … call Wade.”
Every case is different, and you may not obtain the same or similar results.

Three Florida rules that may affect your claim
These deadlines depend on your accident and circumstances. A case review can help you find out which rules apply to you.
Car or truck crash? Get first medical care within 14 days.
Florida's no-fault coverage, called PIP, helps pay your medical bills only if you get initial care within 14 days of the crash. This rule is for car and truck crashes. It does not apply to falls, and PIP does not cover motorcycle riders.
What it costs if you ignore it: Wait to see whether the pain goes away, and you can lose those benefits for good.

Most injury lawsuits must be filed within two years.
For accidents after March 24, 2023, most Florida negligence claims must be filed in court within two years. Before that date the limit was four years. Wrongful death claims also have two years. Some claims have shorter deadlines and a few have longer ones.
What it costs if you ignore it: Miss the deadline and the court can end your case, no matter how badly you were hurt or how clear the other side's fault was.

Found more than half at fault? In most cases you recover nothing.
Florida cuts what you recover by your share of the fault. In most negligence cases, if you are found more than 50 percent at fault, you recover nothing from the other side.
What it costs if you ignore it: What you say to an insurance adjuster in the first few days can be used to argue your share of the fault up.

About Wade Coye and our past cases

I served in the U.S. Army as an infantryman, with the 1/41st Battalion, 2nd Armored Division. I was admitted to the Florida Bar on December 18, 1989, and I opened this firm in Orlando in 1991. I’ve been married for more than 34 years, and we have five children.
We represent people hurt in car, truck and motorcycle crashes, bicycle and pedestrian accidents, and falls, and families bringing wrongful death claims, all across Central Florida. When you call, you reach our office here in Orlando.
Look me up in The Florida Bar’s member directory: Wade Benjamin Coye, Bar number 832480, admitted December 18, 1989, member in good standing.
“they helped guide me through the miserable position I found myself in – a single mom raising kids and not able to work while recovering from the accident.”
Every case is different, and you may not obtain the same or similar results.
“My husband and I heard about them from the yellow pages and we decided to go with The Coye Law Firm because he was a U.S. Army Veteran.”
Every case is different, and you may not obtain the same or similar results.
Two of our past cases, with what explains each one:
- $3.3 million settlement for a woman seriously injured in a motor vehicle crash. Through numerous visits to local hospitals and clinics, her spine injury went undiagnosed and untreated, and the partial paralysis followed those missed diagnoses. The case included medical negligence as well as the crash.
- $657,000 jury verdict in Tampa, for a man severely injured at an auto auction, and his wife. His injuries cost him his family-run business. Two corporations defended the case at trial.
Every case is different, and you may not obtain the same or similar results.
Questions about your accident and speaking with us
What does the free case review cost?
Nothing, and you are under no obligation to hire us. If you do hire us, our fee is a percentage of what we recover for you, set out in a written agreement before you sign. If there is no recovery, you owe us no attorney's fee and no case costs.
How do I know if I have a case?
That's what the review is for. It usually comes down to who was at fault, how badly you were hurt, and what insurance is available. Tell us what happened and we'll give you a straight answer.
What if the crash was partly my fault?
You may still have a claim. Florida reduces what you recover by your share of the fault, and in most negligence cases you can't recover from the other side if you're found more than 50 percent at fault. Insurance companies often argue for a higher share than is fair, which is one reason to talk to a lawyer before you talk to them.
The insurance company already offered me money. Should I take it?
Talk to us before you say yes, sign anything, or cash a check. Once you accept a settlement you usually can't ask for more later, even if your injuries turn out to be worse than you thought.
The other driver's insurance company wants a recorded statement.
You aren't required to give the other driver's insurer a recorded statement. Talk to us first. It costs you nothing to ask.
I was on a motorcycle. Does the 14-day rule apply to me?
Florida PIP doesn't cover injuries to motorcycle riders, so your medical bills have to come from other sources, such as health insurance or the at-fault driver's coverage. The two-year deadline to sue still applies.
I fell in a store or on someone's property. Does the 14-day rule apply?
No. The 14-day rule is part of PIP, which covers car and truck crashes. A fall is usually a claim against the property owner and their insurance, and the two-year deadline applies.
Do I have to come to your office?
No. We can start by phone. Our office is at 730 Vassar St #300, Orlando, FL 32804 if you'd rather meet in person.
What if you can't help me?
We'll tell you so on the call, and you owe nothing. If your case is one we don't handle, we may refer it to another lawyer or law firm, and we'll tell you before we do.
